Well lucky us! Today saw us head out to Silverstone to take in the action from some of the most expensive and exotic cars in British motorsport. The sights, sounds and smells we experienced today reminded us of a rather wet, pretty chilly but epic 48 hours we spent at the Northamptonshire race circuit in October last year…

Which can mean only one thing really… It’s Britcar time! Now last year we broke our endurance racing virginity, right in at the deep end, by attending the marathon 24hr race and truly blew our minds, it’s something I’d urge every petrol head in the land to give a go, it was a momentous experience and one we won’t forget and are planning to continue to repeat year upon year!

But the Britcar isn’t just about the one 24hr race, Britcar is billed as the “MSA British Endurance Car Championship” meaning there is a whole season of top quality endurance action to cover and we wanted to put you right amongst the best of the action from the entire season!

Luckily for both you and us, we have been granted a full season-long pass for media coverage by the organisers, which I’m sure you will agree is a fantastic opportunity to capture those special moments, lapses of concentration and team jubilation that can only be found in endurance racing!

So, “has the season started?” I hear you ask, well actually, no! Today was a special chance for the Media to get access to the teams, the cars, the drivers and the organisers so we can gear you up ready for the season that lies ahead, kicking off on the 25th March back at Silverstone!

It’s also an opportunity for the teams to test their new, freshly prepared or rebuilt machines out on the track and for the organisers to arrange power runs and iron out any issues the teams have prior to the season’s action getting underway.

There are two championships running concurrently within the Britcar rounds; with the top level flagship GT entries occupying the top half of the grid and the production class running alongside, again making for something totally unique as it’s not everyday a Mosler and Honda Jazz are out on track together!

Unfortunately the full line up running in the 2011 season were not all out on show today, but those that were certainly made up for it!

A pair of Moslers dominated the track with their presence, with the Rollcenter Racing car back out after it had failed to finish last year’s 24hr event. Witt Gamski is having another crack at it in his MJC Ferrari F430 and in the running for the ‘most amazing soundtrack award’ the Dodge Viper did battle with the 2 Lamborghini’s from Backdraft Motorsport and fellow Britcar newcomers; MacG Racing’s rare-as-hens’-teeth Ultima GTR.

Further down the order saw the all girl “Seat Sex Drive” team’s Leon making steady progress along with a pair of Civic Type Rs, BMW M3s and Ginetta G50s. The Seat Leon Supercopa also re-confirmed itself as a popular choice for endurance racing with at least 3 filling the pit garages.

The only real unfortunate part of the action was when the engine of Motionsport’s Elise, piloted by Simon Phillips, let go during one of the power tests.

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic season of motorsport with the Britcar, we feel very privileged to have access to this fantastic championship and won’t let you miss a moment of the action as the season unfolds. On top of that we are also hoping to bring you an exclusive photoshoot of one of the front-running cars!
