In the modified car world, nearly everyone has an opinion, be it on make and model of car, choice of wheels, how low/high a car should be, where to place stickers and what colours work best. Of course, most of these things make for interesting forum reads, or full blown Facebook “discussions”, but one thing generally all enthusiasts agree on are the positives and negatives of each and every show in the calendar…

Well, finally it seems that someone is taking note of “the Paying Punter”, “the Average Joe” and “the Hardcore Enthusiast” as Garage Awesome learns that one of the largest specialist shows this year has done a U-turn on a controversial and very unpopular decision.

It seems that the organisers of the much loved French Car Show had planned to introduce a sister event alongside the existing show held annually at Rockingham Circuit, titled the “German Car Show” or GCS. It appears this caused outrage amongst the loyal French car fans as Garage Awesome were invited on Facebook to join the “No to GCS (German Car Show) at FCS 2011″ group, proving that there was some real passion behind preserving their show as well as much discussion on the owners’ forums.

It appears that the organisers have listened, and made a lot of people very happy by announcing the following statement yesterday;

We have been overwhelmed by the passion shown for the French Car Show. We are amazed at the strength of feeling here. As a result we have made the decision to cancel GCS. Please tell all your friends that FCS remains French! We will always listen to your views.

This is great news, and shows in a world that, on the face of it, revolves around money there are still organisers and people within trades that are prepared to listen to you and are willing to act upon the feelings and views of those it directly affects.

Hats off to the organisers, Neil & Jillian and owner; Mark Dow, who may well have started a trend that can only push towards making the UK modified and performance car scene an even better place to be involved in.

The French Car Show is held at Rockingham Raceway on the 5th June, and a whole host of French car action takes place including track time, Top 25, club and trade stands and stunt acts.
